Undavalli Cave Temple - Carved in stone, etched in time!

The Undavalli Caves are primarily attributed to the Vishnukundin kings, who ruled the region during the 4th and 5th centuries AD. Some aspects of the caves suggest possible links to earlier Buddhist monastic traditions, indicating a gradual transition and adaptation of the site over time. The main cave, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, reflects the Vaishnava influence prevalent during the Vishnukundin dynasty. Later dynasties, including the Pallavas, may have also contributed to the complex.
