The history of Sujata Kuti is deeply intertwined with the life of Siddhartha Gautama, who later became the Buddha. After years of rigorous ascetic practices, Siddhartha was weakened. It is said that Sujata, a village woman, offered him a bowl of milk-rice, which he accepted. This act of nourishment is believed to have given him the strength to continue his meditation and ultimately attain enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. The stupa at Sujata Kuti was erected to commemorate this event and is a revered site for Buddhists worldwide. The site has been preserved to maintain its historical and spiritual significance, offering visitors a glimpse into the life of Buddha before his enlightenment.
