Rewalsar's history is deeply intertwined with religious legends. It is believed that the great Buddhist teacher Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) used his mystic powers here before travelling to Tibet to spread Buddhism. The lake is said to have miraculously appeared to facilitate his journey. The Hindu connection comes from the presence of temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Krishna and Lomas Rishi near the lake. The Sikh connection stems from Guru Gobind Singh's visit to Rewalsar, where he sought counsel from local kings during his battles. The lake has been a center for religious harmony for centuries, with various faiths coexisting peacefully around its shores. The presence of monasteries, temples, and a gurudwara highlight this unique blend of cultures and beliefs.
