The Lakshmana Temple was built in the mid-15th century by King Devaraya II of the Vijayanagara Empire. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it's believed to be one of the earliest structures built during the empire's rule in Hampi. The temple's construction marked a period of prosperity and architectural innovation. It served as an important religious center and exemplifies the Vijayanagara style, blending elements of Dravidian architecture with intricate carvings and expansive layouts.
Located in Malyavanta Hill where Rama and Lakshmana stayed during the monsoon. The temple features intricate carvings of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, and Hanuman. According to legend, Lakshmana's arrow pierced the rock, creating a water source. The stream's shape resembles the arrow, and the area has numerous Shiva lingas and Nandi idols carved into the rock.
This place is located on the Malyavanta hills behind Raghunatha temple on the way to the sunset point. It's believed that when Srirama and Lakshmana went on the quest for searching Sita, stopped here in this place to spend rainy season. Lakshmana fired an arrow for the want of water and a small stream started flowing. The shape of the stream resembles the arrow. There are many shivalingas and nandi idols carved on the rock along the stream.
