Established in 1963 by His Holiness the 11th Gyalwang Drukpa, Namdroling Monastery stands as a testament to the resilience of Tibetan Buddhism following the exile from Tibet. It was initially founded to preserve the teachings and lineage of the Palyul lineage of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Over the decades, it has grown significantly, becoming one of the largest teaching centers of Tibetan Buddhism in the world and a symbol of Tibetan culture in India.
Also known as Golden temple, the Tibetan monastery situated at Kushalnagar. A otherwise peaceful place, it becomes chaotic because of the tourists. Tourists should understand as respect the place. The Tibetan architecture is beautiful, eye catching and colourful. The paintings on the wall, the handles of the doors are vibrant. It was a great experience to witness their prayers. So soothing. The shops around the monastery are super expensive. Can give a skip. Do visit the Tibetan restaurants around.

Our visit to the monastery was truly peaceful. We arrived during a teaching session, and the energy from the students added a vibrant atmosphere to the serene surroundings. The place was well-maintained, neat, and clean. The security staff was incredibly helpful, providing a wheelchair for our granny, allowing her to comfortably explore the temple with us. Overall, it was a memorable and accommodating experience for the whole family.
