    History

The Kurudumale Ganesha Temple is believed to date back to the Chola period (9th-12th century), with contributions and renovations from subsequent dynasties like the Vijayanagara and Hoysala empires. Legend has it that the idol of Ganesha was found by a shepherd who noticed his cows showering milk on a particular spot on the hill. Upon excavation, the massive idol was discovered, leading to the establishment of the temple.

Kurudumale Ganesha Temple is a serene and spiritually uplifting place with a rich historical significance. The giant Ganesha idol is mesmerizing, attracting many devotees. However, the temple is in a deteriorating condition, and the government should prioritize its renovation to preserve this heritage site.

We visited the Ganpati Temple with family on a weekend and found it to be incredibly peaceful. The temple's ambiance is serene, providing a perfect place for quiet reflection. An interesting aspect is the four pillars in the main hall, which are said to represent the four yugas. It was a unique and spiritual experience that we all cherished. Highly recommended for a tranquil visit.

Very ancient temple with unique atmosphere surrounded by small hills makes it very special with rich history right from Chola kings to Vijayanagar kingdom.. My friend and I visited this temple based on his recommendation, where this temple lies on the same longitude with Pillayarpatti Vinayagar temple makes it special. Main Ganesha inside the temple is approximately 10 - 12 feet tall, and the decoration around him gives a good vibe. Included the temple.history pic for detailed info.
