Lalitha Mahal was commissioned by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV of Mysore in 1921. Designed by E.W. Fritchley, the palace was intended to accommodate distinguished guests of the Mysore Kingdom, including the Viceroy of India. Completed in 1931, it showcases a blend of Renaissance and Indo-Saracenic architectural styles. After India's independence, the palace served various purposes, including housing the Mysore Government Secretariat. Eventually, it was converted into a heritage hotel under the management of the Ashok Group of Hotels, offering a unique experience of royal hospitality. The palace has hosted numerous dignitaries and continues to be a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its historical significance and architectural splendor.

Last weekend I visited this hotel ( palace). Only visit not stay. The ambience is very precious and superb. Entry fees for palace visit 100rs per head for this they give parking, Entrance cafeteria area and steps with complementary tea and snacks they will give you. Outside and inside the reception area and steps they allow for photography balance all area restrictions only for hotel staying guests only. The toilet area is neat and clean for the visitor area. The only problem i faced here in that cafeteria tea service timing is that there are too many late visitors waiting a very long time. And the tea quality is very very bad and the biscuits are too. Please don't try.. apart this all is good. Transportation is well connected with the road. From the railway station you can come by prepaid auto is 110 ₹only prepaid auto other may above 200 ₹ . Buses are also available but the stop may be far from the palace. Happy journey to all
Stunning hotel. We booked the suite and it was amazing!! Breakfast was super basic.. can just eat outside. Lunch buffet was nice. One thing that lower the stars is we got asked by a staff to pay because we were taking pictures outside the compound. This was not communicated to us at all. This left a very bad taste in our experience. Overall, it’s a pretty place but the toilets are not maintained properly and service was lack lustre
Just the best heritage hotel. The hotel is well managed and preserved from the pre-independence era. It's a beautiful photo spot. If you book a room here, you can go around and inside every corner of the palace. Parking is huge, the swimming pool is good, the restaurant is mesmerizing and the main hall is just a treat to your eyes. Staff are very courteous and help you with everything. The security guys are very friendly and take as many pics as you ask for. Restaurant food is good, the complimentary breakfast is wide spread to a great extent. Must visit places if you are in Mysore, if not to stay then they have an entry charge of ₹100 including one tea but limit your movement unlike the residents. Residents have all the access. We stayed in the heritage king room and it was a great experience.
