Gol Gumbaz was built by the ruler of Bijapur, Mohammed Adil Shah, in the 17th century. He wanted a grand mausoleum for himself and his family, and the construction started in 1626. The architect of this masterpiece was Yaqut of Dabul. The construction of Gol Gumbaz took over 30 years to complete, finally ending in 1656. It is said that Mohammed Adil Shah himself couldn't witness the completion of his dream due to the war with the Mughals. Today, Gol Gumbaz stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of the bygone era and attracts visitors from all over the world.
This monument is truly a must-visit destination. Its architecture is impressive, showcasing a remarkable design. The whistling dome, a prominent feature, stands out as an excellent example of architectural brilliance. Although reaching the dome requires climbing approximately seven floors, the effort is well worth it. The view from the top is spectacular and enhances the overall experience. Additionally, the site houses a museum dedicated to ancient and historical stone carvings and statues, offering visitors a chance to explore and appreciate the intricate craftsmanship of the past. The combination of the striking architecture and the rich historical exhibits makes this monument a memorable and enriching visit.
Truly amazing monument, well maintained by Archeological Survey of India and ministry of culture. The whispering gallery has lost its charm by a bit now because of age of the monument is nearly 350 years now, but still it is must visit place, overall great experience
It is famous for mughal kabar.... Soft hearted peoples don't came here... Those who have height Fabia not came.... Tickets are digital that one is best thing...
Nice place and very old one. We have to climb steps to reach the tip of the point. For old people it is difficult to climb. We have to take tickets at the entrance and no bags will allow inside, for bags separate counter is there, they will give coupon which is of no charges. Well maintained. Recommend to visit
