The Jatayu Earth's Center is the brainchild of filmmaker and sculptor Rajiv Anchal. The concept originated in the late 1980s, driven by the desire to create a landmark that celebrated Kerala's rich cultural heritage and promoted tourism. Construction of the massive Jatayu sculpture began in 2011 and took nearly a decade to complete. The sculpture symbolizes the protection of women and their safety, inspired by the mythological bird Jatayu's attempt to rescue Sita from Ravana in the epic Ramayana.
