    History

Mattupetty Dam was constructed in the 1950s as part of a hydroelectric project. The project was designed to generate electricity for the growing town of Munnar and the surrounding tea plantations. The dam was built across the Mattupetty River, creating a large reservoir. The reservoir is now a popular tourist destination, offering boating, fishing, and other recreational activities. The dam has also helped to irrigate the surrounding agricultural lands. The construction of the dam has had a significant impact on the local economy, providing jobs and boosting tourism. The dam has also helped to conserve water resources in the region.

The water reservoir and its surrounding areas are very pretty. There is an option for boating (manual). Paid and free parking available and there are lots of small shops selling snacks and other stuffs. View from echo point is very beautiful, though I never heard voice echoes.
