The Lakshmi Narayan Temple was originally built by Vir Singh Deo in 1622, but the present structure dates back to 1793, when Prithvi Singh rebuilt it. The temple was constructed to honor Goddess Lakshmi. However, due to reasons unknown, the temple was never consecrated with an idol of Lakshmi. The murals within the temple were commissioned during the Bundela period and reflect the artistic patronage of the rulers. The temple served not just as a place of worship but also as a symbol of the Bundela kingdom's power and artistic achievements. The decision to keep the temple without a primary idol adds to its unique character and historical intrigue.
