Panhala Fort - History comes alive!

Panhala Fort boasts a history spanning several centuries, witnessing the rise and fall of various dynasties. It was initially built by the Shilahara rulers in the late 12th century. The fort later came under the control of the Yadava dynasty before being captured by the Bahmani Sultanate. In the 17th century, the fort was a strategic stronghold of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji Maharaj spent considerable time here, and it served as a crucial base for his military campaigns. Panhala Fort also witnessed a famous siege by the Mughal forces. After Shivaji Maharaj's death, the fort changed hands several times before finally becoming part of British India. Today, it stands as a testament to the resilience and valor of the Maratha warriors.
