History
The Mahabaleshwar Temple dates back to the 16th century, built during the Yadava dynasty's rule. It is believed that the original structure was a small shrine, later expanded and renovated by the Chanda Rao More dynasty. The temple's historical significance is tied to the legend of Lord Shiva creating the Krishna River from his matted hair. The five rivers originating from the Krishna River are said to flow from the Shivling within the temple. Over the centuries, the temple has witnessed the patronage of various rulers and continues to be a revered place of worship.
