    History

Ana Sagar Lake was constructed by Maharaja Anaji Chauhan (1135-1150 AD), the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan. The lake was created by building a dam across the Luni River. Over the centuries, it has been expanded and beautified by various rulers. Emperor Jahangir added the Daulat Bagh gardens, while Emperor Shah Jahan constructed five pavilions (baradari) between the garden and the lake. These additions have significantly contributed to the lake's aesthetic appeal and historical significance. The lake has witnessed many historical events and remains an important landmark in Ajmer, reflecting the city's rich cultural heritage.
