    History

Amer Fort was built in the late 16th century by Raja Man Singh I, a Rajput king and a trusted general of Mughal emperor Akbar. It served as the main residence of the Rajput rulers for several centuries. The fort's construction spanned over 100 years, with subsequent rulers adding to its grandeur. It witnessed significant historical events, including battles and royal ceremonies. The fort's strategic location on a hilltop provided a defensive advantage. Over time, it evolved into a complex of palaces, halls, gardens, and temples. Today, Amer Fort stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and architectural prowess of the Rajput dynasty.

A nice fort that is worth visiting. When first arriving there, locals try to scam you that you can’t go up on foot and offer you a car, which is a lie. The path going up is pretty normal. Inside the area there are many beautiful views and details. The place lacks signs so sometimes it’s very confusing which way is better to go first. Overall I recommend this place

A must visit place if you’re visiting Jaipur. The best fort/palace to see. Very well maintained. Early evening is a good time to visit so you can witness the sunset as well as the night light show. It’s better to take a tour guide to know more about the history of the place. Ample parking space where you can get tour guides and jeeps to go up to the fort.

Astonishing and grandiose. Perhaps this is the best place to visit in Jaipur, though the eclectic vibe of the city will require you to roam the city for more places to visit. And this place is actually a fort, and with a number of connected palaces or old buildings attached or adjacent to each other within the fort walls. The entire fort is quite huge, and there are many places to visit or spots for photography as well. Once you step in to the connected buildings, you will immediately be amazed by the intricate masonry works done on the ceiling as well on the interior or exterior walls. Captivating. And the gardens, or the courtyards, are very ornate or splendid. What is surprising to me is how properly maintained the old buildings and the courtyards are, even though with a huge influx of local and international tourists. Since we did not opt for a guided tour as we were quite short in time, we were kind of lost while we were roaming around, as well as clueless about the history of the entire fort itself. I do suggest to hire a guide as the tour prices provided in the fort, I believe, are fixed (and you may need to pay a tip in the end if you’re satisfied with the service). A trip to Jaipur would not be complete without visiting the Amber Palace or the Amber Fort. Is a visit highly recommended? Such a silly question. Of course the answer is yes 

UNESCO World Heritage Hilltop Fort, notable for its large ramparts, series of gates and cobbled paths, and a commanding views of its surroundings. Well worth a visit. Fortunately there are jeeps that takes you up to the entrance of the fort. Unfortunately, lots of visitors with the same idea and narrow roads don't make a winning combination.
