The history of Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple is steeped in local legend and lore. It is believed that the temple was constructed centuries ago. According to popular belief, a cowherd named Singam Balaiah found the idol of Lord Hanuman at this location. He started worshiping the idol, and gradually, the place gained prominence as a sacred site. Another legend suggests that Lord Hanuman, while carrying the Sanjeevani mountain to save Lakshmana, rested here briefly. Over time, the temple underwent several renovations and expansions, with various rulers and devotees contributing to its development.
