Mahatma Gandhi stayed at this location in 1929 for about two weeks. Deeply moved by the panoramic Himalayan views, he penned his commentary on the 'Anasakti Yoga' (the Gospel of Duty), hence the name Anasakti Ashram. The ashram was later established to promote Gandhian philosophy and principles. It has since served as a center for learning, meditation, and community service. Over the years, the ashram has become a symbol of peace and non-violence, attracting visitors from all over the world who come to learn about Gandhi's life and teachings. The museum within the ashram preserves photographs, articles, and other memorabilia related to Gandhi's stay and his impact on the region.
