Ganesha
Vighnahar (also Vighneshwar or Vighnaharta) at Ozar is the seventh shrine of the Ashta Vinayak. 'Vighna' means obstacle, and this form of Ganesha destroys every obstacle in the devotee's path. The east-facing idol is adorned with a gold crown and jewelled offerings from centuries of devotion. The Ozar Military & Civil Airport sits just 2 km away — the most convenient temple in the Ashta Vinayak for flying visitors. The Kukdi river flows nearby. The temple town is also noted for its ancient stepwells (vavs).
According to local tradition, the swayambhu idol was first worshipped by King Abhijit. The current temple was built in 1833 by Chimaji Appa, younger brother of Peshwa Baji Rao I, as a thanksgiving offering after his decisive victory over the Portuguese at the Battle of Vasai (1739).
