BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, a socio-spiritual Hindu organization, built the Akshardham temple. Inspired by Yogiji Maharaj and realized by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the temple's construction involved thousands of artisans and volunteers. Inaugurated in 2005, Akshardham quickly became a prominent landmark and a symbol of India's rich heritage. The temple's design incorporates ancient architectural styles and modern engineering techniques, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. An elaborate, breathtaking, monumental temple that is worth a visit for anyone in Delhi. It gets very crowded even on weekdays, and the queues to drop off your belongings (no photography allowed inside), and to enter can taken more than an hour. Allocate enough time (at least half a day) to ensure you can soak in the surroundings and details of this religious architecture with interiors carved by fine artisans with marble. Additional fees are required if you are interested to catch the evening water shows, and have your photographs taken with the temple as a backdrop. It is family-friendly with a playground on the right side of the premises, which leads toward a food court and souvenir shops before your visit concludes at the exit gate, after collecting your belongings from the cloakroom.
