Sankey Tank was constructed in 1882 by Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey, then Chief Engineer of Mysore State, to provide water to Bangalore. Originally spanning 194 acres, the tank has shrunk over time due to urbanization. Despite its reduced size, it remains an important source of water for the city and a beloved recreational space.
This place just calms you down no matter what mood you come with!! Sunsets are so serene!! Can walk or run or just sit in calmness around chaos Post a walk in the evening you can try the sprout salad just outside the gate or just drink coconut water!
It was almost 5 years since I had been to this park and I was totally amazed to see the transformation! Had always enjoyed the greenery out there. I like it that there is so much walking space without having to bump into others and the benches, perfect to enjoy the view and nature. Not to forget the wild life out there!
The place is good. People usually go there to watch sunset, some for walks and some to spend their time. It's a man-made park so it looks better during the evening time. The crowd will be there but the roads are so nice to walk and enjoy.
Sankey Tank is one of Bangalore's best spots. The lake is well-maintained and has a lot to offer. There’s a big walking track, plenty of seating areas, and several entrances. You’ll see many birds around, and the sunsets are really beautiful. It’s a great place to spend your evenings if you want some quiet time. Definitely worth a visit.
