Kerala Kalamandalam was founded in 1930 by poet Vallathol Narayana Menon with the aim of reviving and preserving the dying art forms of Kerala. Supported by the Maharaja of Cochin, it started as a small institution and gradually evolved into a renowned center for classical arts. The institution played a crucial role in revitalizing Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Koodiyattam, giving them national and international recognition. Over the years, Kerala Kalamandalam has trained numerous artists who have become masters in their respective fields. It continues to be a leading center for research, training, and performance of Kerala's classical arts, upholding its legacy for future generations.
