The Chunnambar Boat House was established in the late 20th century as a government initiative to promote tourism in Puducherry. The area was originally a fishing village, and the boat house was built to provide recreational facilities for both locals and tourists. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular attractions in Puducherry, attracting visitors with its serene backwaters and adventure sports.
You can spend 20 mints approx on back water derived from paradise beach. The boat experience looks fine. The ticket charges are around 350/- for Adults + Entry charges 10/- and Car parking 30/-. To bring out side food we need to pay Rs 40/- for each adult. All together 400/- adult and 200/- for Children's. Paradise beach is maintained well. The sand is clean. Approx 2 hours to 3 hours will spend in beach. Must visit place for tourist. This is my personal experience....
★★★★☆ Chunnambar Boat House in Pondicherry offers a delightful escape with its 3-4 km boat ride that takes you to the stunning Paradise Beach. The journey itself is a wonderful experience, as you glide through serene waters surrounded by beautiful scenery. Paradise Beach is nothing short of its name – a pristine, sandy retreat that makes the whole trip worthwhile. The beach is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for relaxing or taking a dip in the ocean. A special shoutout to our boat driver, who was not only skilled but also incredibly funny, adding an extra layer of joy to our memorable ride. His humor and stories made the trip even more enjoyable and left us all in great spirits. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the waiting time for the boats can be a bit long during peak hours. However, the overall experience more than makes up for it. Chunnambar Boat House is a must-visit for anyone in Pondicherry looking for a mix of adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended!
My experience at Chunnambar Boat House in Pondicherry was disappointing. The boat ride itself is pleasant, but the overall experience felt somewhat misleading. After the ride, you’re dropped off at a small, restricted area of the beach, while the more desirable Paradise Beach is off-limits and guarded by unfriendly security staff. Although the beach is clean, the area where water activities are conducted is poorly maintained, with equipment that is dirty and covered in algae. For a better experience, I would recommend visiting Paradise Beach by road, where you can enjoy the area more fully and avoid the frustrations of the boat house’s limited access and subpar facilities.
This boat house is run by government and entrance fees Rs.10. to 1 boat ride in Water back to Paradise Beach island is 354 par adult and 177 for kids of 5-10 years. Since it is so hard during the day, I would recommend to visit either in the evening or early evening..
