    About this circuit

Beyond the plains-based Buddhist Circuit, the Himalayan monasteries preserve living Tibetan Buddhism. This high-altitude circuit links Tawang (India's largest monastery, Arunachal Pradesh), Rumtek (the Karmapa's seat in Sikkim), Dharamshala/McLeodganj (home of the Dalai Lama), and Hemis (Ladakh's richest gompa). Each leg needs acclimatisation and, in places, inner-line permits.
