    History

Lalbagh Botanical Garden was originally commissioned by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore, in 1760 and later completed by his son, Tipu Sultan. Inspired by Mughal gardens, Hyder Ali envisioned a private garden filled with rare plants and fruits from around the world. Tipu Sultan further enriched the garden by importing numerous plant species from various countries, including France, Persia, and Afghanistan. In the late 19th century, under British rule, Lalbagh was transformed into a botanical garden, and its collection expanded significantly with the addition of indigenous and exotic plants. Over the years, Lalbagh has played a vital role in plant conservation and research, establishing itself as one of the most important botanical gardens in India. Today, it continues to attract visitors with its historical significance, botanical diversity, and serene atmosphere.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is a serene oasis in the heart of Bangalore! This 240-acre green haven is a must-visit, but only on a good weather day. The lush gardens, tranquil lakes, and stunning floral displays are best enjoyed when the sun shines bright. I spent hours exploring the gardens, taking in the breathtaking views and snapping photos. The Peninsular Gneiss Rock Formation, the Glass House, and the Lotus Pond are absolute highlights. Tips: - Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid the scorching sun. - Wear comfortable shoes and hydrate well. - Don't miss the stunning flower shows during festivals. Avoid visiting during peak summer or monsoon season, as the experience might be marred by heat or rain. - Beauty: 5/5 - Maintenance: 4.5/5 - Amenities: 4/5 - Value: 5/5 *Recommended for:* Nature lovers, photographers, families, and couples.

Beautiful place. So many trees. So many flowers. It is a very interesting place if you love all these. There are quite a few nurseries in there as well if you want to buy a few plants. There are large lakes as well if you want to sit and enjoy the view. Do note that it will get quite crowded on weekends, especially during the flower show that happens during Independence Day and Republic Day. So, plan accordingly. There is a waterfall show as well but there are some timings for that, so check and visit if you want to see the waterfall.

Lalbagh botanical garden is one of the famous and oldest tourist spot in Bangalore. It is with full of plants, trees and flowers. Now flower show is also running and worth a visit. There is a lot of crowd to enter into the flower show but all other places are easy to move. There is a lake inside the garden and lots of greenery and lawns make you relaxed. There is rose garden, Japanese garden, water fountain etc. Battery operated buggy is also available. When you go with family or friends, it will be fun to walk, eat, relax and enjoy.
