The original Shri Mangueshi Temple dates back to the 15th century, built during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire. It was later shifted to its present location in the 16th century to escape Portuguese destruction. Mangeshi Temple in Goa is a serene and stunning place of worship that becomes particularly enchanting during sunset. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful temples in the region. As the day fades, the temple's pristine white façade takes on a golden hue, and the surrounding greenery is bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun, creating a truly magical atmosphere. One of the highlights of visiting Mangeshi Temple is its relatively calm and less crowded environment, even during peak hours. This tranquility allows you to fully immerse yourself in the spiritual ambiance and admire the intricate architecture without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by large crowds. The temple complex is well-maintained and adorned with exquisite carvings, making it a visual delight for visitors. The serene ponds and lush gardens surrounding the temple add to its charm, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're there to seek blessings, explore the rich history, or simply enjoy the serene environment, Mangeshi Temple is a must-visit. Beautiful little temple. You have to walk 400m from the parking lot through a lot of sales stales. Please dress respectfully before entering the temple grounds!

Incredible place to visit. Short walk through vending stalls and then the colourful temple with dozens of pilgrims worshiping and praying. Don’t forget to cover your legs girls and boys. There is a convenient stall outside the temple renting cloth covers for 10rupees.

This is the family deity to many people around here, Saraswat Brahmins, and a highly revered one. It's about 25 kms off Panaji, on the hills and takes about 45 mts to 1 hours by car,in Mangeshi village, towards Ponda. Reportedly, the Portuguese started mass conversations to Christanity and the locals moved inland and set up this temple, arearuled by Hindu kings. The principal deity is Lord Shiva or Manguesh an incarnation. Well maintained with a big complex, it's worth spending half a day in for the religious. When we went it, was shut for 10 mts, but opened for Arthi and we had great darshan. Entry is free, system of controlling crowd good, was low crowds anyway. There's a Vishnu and Ganapati temple next door. There are rooms to stay and a good veg satvik restaurant. We lived it, simple basic food with very low rates. The parking near the temple is small, but about 300 meters up, big parking controlled by a gate. We were asked to park outside, but the 2 guards were allowing many taxis to go in, l suspect, by paying them HAFTA, we didn't mind the walk. But for the elderly and inform, they should allow at least free access, l think. The pond outside is beautiful, whole complex very well maintained and a free toilet in the back back side of the temple complex.
